The Grand County Attorney's Office is hiring for a Deputy County Attorney.
The Deputy County Attorney is required to perform a variety of legal duties to expedite the efficient and effective prosecution of criminal cases and the effective review of civil matters.
This position will handle the complete caseload for Justice, Drug and Juvenile Courts.
The Deputy Attorney will also provide higher level support to the criminal justice team working on District Court cases as time allows.
This position will predominantly provide support for prosecution of criminal cases.
Criminal:
Manages Juvenile and Drug Court cases for prosecution from the initial filing through sentencing; attends necessary court staffing meetings and hearings such as in arraignments, sentencing, preliminary hearings, trials and other court hearings for the State of Utah and Grand County in Juvenile and Drug Court; assists supervisor with additional District Court and Justice Court cases on an as-needed basis; receives, reviews and screens crime reports and intake activities on assigned cases, etc.
from law enforcement agencies within the County; assures proper legal procedures and processes are adhered to; files charges and pursues legal penalties; performs legal research, drafts briefs, gathers and analyzes evidence; prepares writs, subpoenas, warrants, petitions, affidavits and other legal documents as necessary for assigned cases; submits regular reports, written or verbal to apprise supervisor of status of assigned cases; provides legal advice to law enforcement officers during investigations and in their preparation of necessary paperwork as needed to expedite law enforcement efforts, such as search warrants, arrest warrants, etc.

The Ideal Candidate:
Candidates for this position are required to have a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Utah.
The ideal candidate would have prior relevant experience.
This is face-paced dynamic office, the ideal candidate would be highly organized and enjoy the challenging and technical nature of the work.

Pay Range:
$82,428 to $124,680 (depending on experience and qualifications) Grand County offers a comprehensive Benefits package including health, dental, vision, life AD&D, accident/ critical illness/ hospital insurance and Utah Retirement Systems.
This position is classified as exempt, full time, 40/ hours per week.
