OPM.GOV Hiring Information - DHA. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is looking for temporary employees to work on Helitack (helicopter) crews in Moab, UT. For more information on Crew Types, click here. A Wildland Firefighter (GS-06, Forestry Technician) on a Helitack (helicopter) crew performing the following duties:
locates fire line, directs and participates in fire line construction, backfiring and burnout operations, tree falling and holding/patrol mop-up operations. Directs the fire suppression efforts of the helicopter module. Directs the loading of helicopter personnel and cargo, considers weight and balance, securing cargo. Completes manifests of personnel and equipment being transported to the fire or other work sites. Inventories and inspects helicopter accessories, fire tools, and equipment. Ensures that needed tools and equipment are available for firefighting tasks. A Wildland Firefighter (GS-07, Forestry Technician) serves on a Helitack (helicopter) crew performing the following duties:
locates fire line, directs and participates in fire line construction, backfiring and burnout operations, tree falling and holding/patrol mop-up operations. Directs the fire suppression efforts of the helicopter module. Directs the loading of helicopter personnel and cargo, considers weight and balance, securing cargo. Completes manifests of personnel and equipment being transported to the fire or other work sites. Serves as Helispot and Dipsite Manager, and certified in long line and external loads. Prepares and maintains required documents (flight invoices, manifests, daily diaries, and load calculations). May serve as a certified rappeller. //www.firejobs.doi.gov/. To qualify for a GS-06, you must meet at least one of the following AND the Selective Factors:
- 1 year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-05 level duties. Examples include on-the-line wildland fire experience in forest/range fire control, prevention or suppression work; operating and maintaining specialized wildland fire tools/equipment/vehicles and may include leading crewmembers. OR - 1 year of graduate level education directly related to the position. OR - a combination of education and experience that is directly related to the work of the position. To qualify for a GS-07, you must meet at least one of the following AND the Selective Factors:
- 1 year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-06 level duties. Examples include on-the-line wildland fire experience in forest/range fire control, prevention or suppression work as a lead wildland firefighter, utilizing a variety of specialized wildland fire tools and equipment. OR - 1 year of graduate education directly related to the position; OR - a combination of education and experience that is directly related to the work of this position as stated above. Selective Factors for GS-06/07:
In addition to the basic qualifications listed above, you must have possessed the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) incident management qualification and training requirement to be considered eligible. 1. Helicopter Crew Member (HECM) And 2. Fire Fighter Type 1 (FFT1) And 3. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
